Ever since the first intern Aluwani Mbuvha found us through her Swedish Institute contacts, NCG has been welcoming new, aspiring students from different Swedish universities to work with us for a semester. To us, bringing in an intern means bringing in new perspectives and fresh eyes into an ever-changing field of work. Through our commitment to training a new generation of practitioners in gender and development work, we do our best to expose interns to real-life projects with our clients, involve them in diverse tasks, entrust them with responsibilities but also space to chart their own course and turn the internship into practical benefits, i.e. for their thesis project or future career.
During our first meet-up with past and future interns last week, we got the chance to hear from Aluwani Mbuvha, Daniel Perez, Elena Alvarez Blomgren, Cajsa Hemström and Hanh Nguyen, who have left NCG with valuable experiences to support them in their current roles and future plans. While we sadly missed Victoria Johansson this time, we hope to see her soon in our next event this year! NCG wishes our interns all the best and hope that we can continue to support and collaborate with them through our alumni network. NCG envisions the network to be a space for knowledge exchange, mutual learning and friendship building for the interns.
We would like to end by wishing everyone a lovely summer and we look forward to a great autumn semester with Duncan Sempigga – the next intern on board.
